Narrative Generation Guide

M
Written by Mohit at Lucio

Narrative turns the emails you have sent into timesheet-ready descriptions, the kind you would enter in your billing system at the end of the day. No more digging through your Sent folder trying to reconstruct what you worked on across a long day.

Choose the period

Open the Narrative tab and pick Today, Week, or Custom. Lucio reads your Sent folder for that period and produces one narrative per email.

Capture work daily, weekly, or for any range.

For a specific window, for example a single matter day or a back-dated entry, use Custom and set the start and end dates. Past requests are saved, so you can revisit them.

Custom: generate narratives for any date range you choose.

Review the output

Each sent email comes back as a clean, ready-to-review line. A day with emails to several clients produces a clear list, one row per email, ready to review.

One narrative per sent email.

Edit any line to tighten it, then save or copy it into your time-recording system. Narrative is a drafting tool, not a replacement for your firm's billing system; you still enter time the way you do today, only faster.

Edit the wording, then save.

Best practices

  • Train your style. Upload past timesheets in Profile so your narratives match your usual phrasing (see the Personalized Narrative Style Guide).

  • Capture often. Running Narrative daily or weekly keeps entries accurate while the work is still fresh.

  • Review every line. Tighten the wording and confirm the description before it goes into your billing system.

  • Keep your Sent folder tidy. Narrative reads what you sent, so clear, well-addressed emails produce cleaner narratives.
